Tell us about yourself
I’m a father of two amazing kids and can often be found on kayak expeditions. I am fascinated by the human experience and love that our cultures and differences create the vibrancy in our tapestry of life.
I’ve spent the last 15 years operating at the intersection of data science, geospatial intelligence, and strategic planning. My goal at Outside the Box | Analytics is simple: I build the systems that empower leaders to execute where others hesitate.
I partner with industries to help them visualize the stories of the people they serve. I believe data is a blend of art, science, and ethics, and use it to help leaders ensure that the services they provide meet the actual need with who they work with.
How did you hear about DVS?
A mentor of mine suggested I look into being one myself and as a spatial thinker I found DVS naturally. I’ve been a part of 4 mentorship cohorts now (paired with 7 great humans), started the Affiliate DVS Geospatial Interest Group (now with thousands of community members), helped bring the Outlier 2026 conference to the world, and love sharing what I’ve gained from my DVS experience.
What has been the most beneficial aspect of being a DVS member?
Actively participating in international activities and getting to know people from around the world has been my most valued benefit. From working on social good projects with mentees in the Mentorship Program, to bringing over 60 countries together with our affiliate group the DVS Geospatial Interest Group, or to supporting all the great speakers at Outlier, the reciprocity in doing these things together has benefited my career and life, well beyond DVS.
The Board and other members have been instrumental in my involvement. Something I see all the time at DVS. I’ve leveled up through the international perspective of our community. I certainly encourage anyone with interest in further involvement with DVS opportunities to seek out leadership and brainstorm ways you can get the most out of your Plus membership.
